“Our Family’s African Experience with African Insider…
John and I were celebrating our 50th anniversary and wanted to do something really special with our family. A trip to Africa seemed to be the answer since we had visited that beautiful country several times and each time commented to each other “the kids would REALLY like this!” Like is not a strong enough word… they loved it and keep talking about ‘the next time they go’!
Brad and Sam,our African Insiders, were our first class travel agents. The tour and arrangements they made were top notch and very well thought out. Each place we visited was exceptional and each one was a notch above the last…if you can imagine that! The stay at each place (about 3 days) was perfect. We were ready to move on to the next. There were things that all 22 of us enjoyed.
The staff was very welcoming, sleeping accommodations were great, the food was delicious, game viewing and sightseeing were extra-ordinary.
We started with a one night rest in Johannesburg before the first flight up to Victoria Falls. What an experience to view that magnificent creation from one side, but also to walk to the very edge of the falls to the Angel’s Armchair! Having dinner at the Boma is a ‘must’, too.
From Victoria Falls, we were driven to Chobe Game Park. Here the game viewing from the Chobe River as well as on the game drives was spectacular. Each place had been informed that we were celebrating our anniversary and here at Chobe they had prepared a special dinner for our family complete with candlelight, a special decorated cake and singing! It was just beautiful.
We then left Chobe, and part of our group flew to Cape Town. Brad and Sam made the connecting accommodation, they have all the connections for whatever kind of travel you need! Those of us in Cape Town enjoyed the sights and shopping, an interesting and a welcome change from the game viewing. Our girls enjoyed the market where the local artisans sold their merchandise. It was fun wheeling and dealing with them, a different way of shopping for us. Our stay at 12 Apostles was first class…those dear people couldn’t do enough for us!
From here, we flew up to Sabi Sabi to be reunited with the rest of the group and that game viewing was the icing on the cake! Again…we were treated like royalty and were loved on by the whole staff!
At EVERY place we stayed, there was something special to welcome us as we celebrated our anniversary, thanks to Brad and Sam, I’m sure. Thanks for that special touch, we felt so loved everywhere, starting with a bottle of wine in our room, a special meal, roses and candlelight.
Just let me say, if you are planning a trip to Africa, be sure to have Brad and Sam assist you with the planning so you don’t miss anything. Stay as long as your schedule allows you to, there is so much to see and do! Thanks, Brad and Sam, for helping to make our Anniversary trip one that will be remembered for the rest of our lives!
The Happy Travellers,
John & Joyce Wagner and family”

“I’ve lived in South Africa for over 30 years and have had the privilege of introducing numerous members of my family and friends from the USA to southern Africa over that time. However, in late 2014/early 2015, when one of my sisters and her husband began talking about bringing their whole family to SA, a visit of a scale I’ve not worked with before was in the making. There would be 22 of us traveling together. We started making some inquiries and we were soon referred to Sam and Brad of AFRICAN INSIDER.
Sam and Brad spent considerable time finding out what type of trip we wanted and some of the places we definitely wanted to see, as well as suggesting places and things about which we had not heard. They also offered some travel advice as to how to make the most out of each stop we made. For example, they suggested that we stay at least 3 nights in any one place—it reduces travel and transfer time. To stay any less means you only have 1 full, uninterrupted day at any place. We spent significant time on skype or phone calls or communicating via e-mail to build the trip together. Detailed information about clothing, any needed vaccinations, travel insurance, etc. was supplied well in advance.
The travel/itinerary booklet they produced for us—a copy for every family unit traveling in our group—was a work of art and an entirely useful and handy reference for all our transfers, activities, inclusions & exclusions, and the like. It was of such quality that I’ve kept mine as a magnificent souvenir of the trip.
Our trip ran like clockwork. Every connection was spot on, the agents used by African Insider were on time, friendly, knowledgeable about the local situation, and bent over backwards to assist us in any way possible, even in making some last minute adjustments to the itinerary.
I can enthusiastically and unreservedly recommend Sam and Brad (African Insider) to anyone wishing to have a memorable African Experience.”

” I was thinking about what I could say that would get the point across of how we all feel… Before we went to South Africa, we were all very good friends. But when we came back we discovered that we shared a deep and unbreakable bond, more profound, more loving than mere friendship. The poignant and funny and exciting times we shared over those two weeks were unexpected and unparalleled, and brought us together in so many different ways.
Rocktail Bay (South Africa) & Botswana Explorations 2016
“We wanted to say you everything was wonderful, amazing and just perfect. Your choices for us was great. We were so happy during the 2 weeks.
Firstly, Rocktail was a good place to relax and we had a great time and got to meet very kind South African people.
And in Botswana ….!!!! It was a fireworks display for us. We enjoyed the 2 different camps. Gomoti being the more rustic and authentic camp. I never will forget my night with the lions roaring around my tent. Then Xigera was so beautiful and we were lucky to see a leopard in the camp walking back to our room one night. REALLY amazing. We actually saw leopards in BOTH camps! One female with her baby and the same female pulling an impala it had killed.
The most amazing for us was to seeing all those animals in nature.
One more time, thanks for all. We enjoyed our trip so much, we just want to start all over again.
All was so beautiful, amazing and wonderful.”

“Thornybush was also great. The kicker being we booked the whole place out. Game viewing was excellent too. We had great sightings on every drive. Saw the big 5 in 1 day, including a lioness with a 9month old cub, female leopard with 2 5month old cubs. black & white rhino & the list goes on. We also had great game viewing from the hide in camp. With it being so dry, the animals were flocking to the tiny waterhole there. Saw large & small herds of elephant, buffalo’s etc. 2 young males broke through the gate the 1 day and drank out the pool which was pretty cool. We haven’t downloaded pics yet, but we’ll definitely forward any worth sharing.
Thanks again for all your efforts.”
Garden Route & Cape Winelands - December 2015
“I just wanted to write to say thank you so much to you and Brad for arranging such a fantastic trip for Ian and I. We have loved everywhere we stayed and each location was amazing. Every time we arrived at the next destination we were delighted with the accommodation as each was so different from the last. It just seemed to get better and better!
Drinking the Boschendale bubbly while staring at that view of the mountains was a total highlight and something I won’t be forgetting in a hurry.
South Africa has well and truly stolen my heart. The spectacular scenery has blown me away. It is such a beautiful country with so much to offer.
Thank you so much for helping us have such an amazing holiday.”
Botswana - 2012, Zimbabwe - 2013 and Namibia – 2014
“We have had the most wonderful privilege of visiting some of the most beautiful wildlife places in Africa namely Botswana in 2012, Zimbabwe in 2013 and Namibia in 2014. These life changing experiences have been made possible by Brad. He has understood our passion for particular wildlife experiences, both in species and habitats. Brad’s ability to fulfil our desires and understanding our feelings has been amazing. His communication and organisational skills are second to none. We are indebted to him for enabling us to bank these wonderful life long experiences in our memories for life.
We look forward to Brad planning our next wildlife experience in the not too distant future.”

“My experience with you guys was fabulous. Way beyond what I expected. It was my first time overseas on my own and my first time to Africa. I felt like I could call you guys for any info I needed. The safari you suggested was also superb. I had a blast.”
Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Cape Town, Greater Kruger, Johannesburg - July 2013
“Botswana was definitely the highlight for all of us, particularly for game but also for the incredible ecology of the place.
At each camp everyone asks where you’ve been and where you’re going, we were constantly told by camp staff that our itinerary was superbly planned, and it was – all credit goes to you on that.
One night at Sabi we came across a group of about ten males heading to the watering hole at sunset, they were playing around, drinking, wrestling with each other and affectionately draping their trucks on one another.
One of them came right by our vehicle and sprayed water at us, barely missing us.
It was truly magical to be part of that, and that is the feeling that we have all brought home with us.
That, and the feeling that one day we will all go back to Africa.”
South African - Greater Kruger Safari , Cape Town - August 2012
“I honestly don’t know where to start in summing up the Lion Sands experience. Everyone loved it. The game drives were brilliant. The children have been so completely absorbed in everything they have seen and learned and they haven’t grumbled once about having to get up at 6am to do so! As we tick off stop number 2, we already know before doing any more that this has been the holiday, of all the lovely holidays we have had, that we will remember and talk about as a family for a long, long time.”
South African Safari, Private guide - 2012

“Just wanted to thank you again for your help in arranging my trip!
We loved our accommodations at Ocean View House and La Petite Dauphine.
We found the staff everywhere friendly and helpful. Our guides – Armond and Casper were terrific.
We loved Cape Town and the surrounding area – as well as the safari to start off the trip – and definitely would recommend South Africa and African Insider to others in the future!”
Botswana, Vic Falls, Cape Town - April 2011
“As soon as we spoke to you, we knew that you had our best interests in mind and we were in good hands. We could not have been more confident and impressed by your expertise, or more grateful for our trip of a lifetime.
We will never forget our honeymoon and cannot wait to work with you again to re-live the amazing experience that is Africa!
We honestly believe we could not have had the experience we had without the insight of African Insider.”
